Woodbury, New Jersey – June 18, 2015. Woodbury City Public Schools is pleased to announce that Superintendent Joseph Jones was named Gloucester County Superintendent of the Year by the Gloucester County Superintendents Roundtable. This is the first time in at least 10 years that the Roundtable has formally chosen a superintendent to represent Gloucester County in this program.
“It is nice to be recognized locally by people who know the good work accomplished in the Woodbury City Public Schools,” Superintendent Jones said. “We are proud of our National Demonstration School status in the AVID program, our leadership in student performance in the Advanced Placement testing program, our unique pilot program with Rowan College of Gloucester County where 20% of our seniors take college courses on the college campus, a one-to-one Chromebook initiative in the elementary grades, and our expanding preschool program for children as young as three years of age. Woodbury is an exciting and powerful place to work as an educator.”
Mr. Jones was appointed Superintendent of the Woodbury City Public Schools in March 2005 and began his official duties August 1, 2005. His goal for the Woodbury schools is to capitalize on the personalized learning experiences available in order to ensure a high quality education for all students.

His next administrative position was in the Gloucester Township School District as an assistant principal at the Glen Landing Middle School in 1992. From 1993 through 2005, Mr. Jones worked at the Northern Burlington County Regional School District. He was the high school principal for 10 years and then served as the assistant superintendent for the district.
Mr. Jones was recognized as the National Association of Secondary School Principals/MetLife New Jersey High School Principal of the Year in 2002. He served in a leadership role on the Cabinet of the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association for six years and is a past-president of the Burlington County Secondary Principals & Supervisors Association. In addition, he served on a committee organized by Assemblyman Malone to review practical arts education (2001) and was appointed by Governor McGreevy to serve on the Education Mandate Review Study Commission (2003).
