West End Memorial held an Autism Awareness Walk on Friday, April 21. Students walked around the block to raise awareness and show support for those with autism, one of the fastest growing developmental disorders. After the walk, students and staff gathered in the back of the school for entertainment, snacks, and bubble blowing.
Thanks to Social Worker Stacey Augustine for organizing the event and coordinating with local organizations to have T-shirts made and given free to all students. Staff purchased shirts and wore them as part of the celebration. As a result of a Penny Challenge between classes, as well as sponsor donations, $1,850 was raised for Autism NJ!
Great job to all the students, staff, and parent volunteers who assisted in making the Autism Awareness Walk so special!
