A.  ROUTINE MATTERS

 

1.   Approval of Minutes

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the Minutes of the Board of Education Meetings held on September 27, 2005.

2.   Secretary’s Report

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the September 2005 Secretary’s Report.  (Exhibit 06-19)

 

3.   Treasurer’s Report

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the Treasurer’s Report in accordance with 18A:17-36 and 18A:17-9 for the month of September, 2005.  The Treasurer’s Report and the Secretary’s Report are in agreement for the month of September, 2005.  (Exhibit 06-20; to be placed on Board table)

 

4.   Transfers

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the transfers in line accounts in accordance with the lists submitted.  (Exhibit 06-21)

5.   Payment of Bills

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the payment of bills without exception.  (Exhibit 06-22)

 

6.   Revenue Amounts/Sources

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education recognizes the Board Secretary’s certification, in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c2, that there are no changes in anticipated revenue amounts and revenue sources.

 

7.   Certifications

a)   Secretary’s Report

Board Secretary’s Report in accordance with 18A:17-36 and18A:17-9 for the month of September, 2005. The Board Secretary certifies that no line item account has been over-expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c 3 and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year. 

b)   Board of Education Certification

            The Woodbury Board of Education hereby certifies, pursuant to N.J.A.C.         6A:23- 2.11c4, that after review of the secretary’s monthly financial report (appropriations section) and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials, that to the best of our knowledge no major accounts or fund has been over-expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c and       that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

B.         PERSONNEL – PROFESSIONAL

           

1.   Retirements

 

a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of retirement from Mr. Robert Moyer, Assistant Principal at Woodbury Jr.-Sr. High School, effective December 31, 2005.  Mr. Moyer has been with the district for the past 11 ½ years.

b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of retirement from Mrs. Sharon Rozansky, part-time Speech-Language Therapist, effective December 31, 3005.  Mrs. Rozansky has been with the district for the past 23 years.

b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of retirement from Ms. Janet Hughes, Teacher of Business Subjects at Woodbury Jr.-Sr. High School, effective January 27, 2006.  Ms. Hughes has been with the district for the past 37 ½ years.

 

2.   Leaves of Absence

 

                  a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves a revision of leave of absence dates for Mrs. Megan Lucidi to October 3, 2005February 23, 2006.

                  b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby grants a leave of absence for Mrs. Liseidy Diaz-Jackson from February 28, 2006June 30, 2006.

                  c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby grants a leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act for Mrs. Kathleen Stark from October 7, 2005November 18, 2005.

 

3.   Employment

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of Sandra Mento as Interim Teacher of Biology at the Jr. High School, effective October 11, 2005 through February 23, 2006.  Miss Mento will be compensated at the rate of $125.00 per day.

 

            4.   Appointment of Alternative School Staff

 

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves appointing Mrs. Rachel M. Kerr as Alternative School Teacher of English for the 2005-2006 fiscal year, not to exceed 9 hours per week, commencing October 3, 2005.  Compensation will be at the Special Projects Rate.

 

5.   Saturday School Proctors

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the following Saturday School proctors for the 2005-06 school year.  Compensation will be at the Special Projects Rate.

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves compensating          Diane Beirne and Carla Bittner for six hours each to run a student/parent/teacher book club at Evergreen Avenue School.  Compensation will be at the Special Projects Rate and funded through NCLB.

 

9.   NASA Family Nights – 2005-06

 

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves compensation for the Colleen Fitzgerald, Ari Ford, Sharron Knauss, Samantha Perlman and Teresa Stebich through the NCLB grant for their participation in a maximum of four NASA Family Nights during the 2005-06 school year.  Compensation will be for three hours per event at the Special Projects Rate.

 

                                   

 

 

 

10. Family Literacy Nights  at Evergreen Avenue School

 

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves compensating          Silvia Cancila, Jeanne Dixon and Shannon Rehman for nine hours each to run Family Literacy Nights at Evergreen Avenue School.  Compensation will be at the Special Projects Rate and funded through NCLB.

 

11. Substitutes – 2005-06

C.        PERSONNEL - SUPPORT

                       

1.   Resignations

 

a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of resignation from Mrs. Carol Yaksta, PK-12 Curriculum & Instruction Secretary, effective October 14, 2005.

b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of resignation from Miss Reneé Senseman, Instructional Assistant at Woodbury Jr.-Sr. High School, effective October 21, 2005.

                       

2.   Retirement

 

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of retirement from Mrs. Bonnie Kijewski, Clerk at West End Memorial School, effective November 1, 2005.  Mrs. Kijewski has worked for the district for the past 18 years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3.   Transfer

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the transfer of Karen Whitman from Tutor, 29 hours per week, at Evergreen Avenue School to Pre-school Aide, 20 hours per week, at Evergreen Avenue School, commencing October 3, 2005.  Miss Whitman’s salary will be according to Step 1 – Degree, on the Aides’ 2005-06 Salary Guide.

 

4.   Employment

                       

                  a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the        employment of Mary DeSimone as a Tutor at Evergreen Avenue School, commencing October 17, 2005.  Ms. DeSimone will be employed for 29 hours per week, with compensation at the rate of $16.00 per hour, 183 day school year.

                  b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the        employment of Latoya Russell and Kyrene Wiggins as AVID tutors.  Their start date will commence with the completion of the criminal history review and they will work through June 2006.  Each will work 6 hours per week and be compensated at $10.00 per hour

                  c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the        employment of James Futia as a part-time technician in the Technology Department at $10.00 for 29 hours per week.  The start date is pending approval of the criminal history review.

D.        BUSINESS & FINANCIAL

 

            1.   Comprehensive Maintenance Plan

 

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the following            resolution for the submission of the Comprehensive Maintenance Plan for FY ’05, FY      ’06; and FY ’07.   (Exhibit 06-23)

 

2.   Purchase of Natural Gas Supply Services Through The ACES Bid

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the resolution binding the Woodbury Public School District to purchase natural gas supply services through the Alliance for Competitive Energy Services (ACES) bid through the period of adoption of this resolution through May, 2009, as attached.  (Exhibit 06-24)

 

 

 

 

 

3.   Nonpublic Technology Initiative Aid Entitlement – 2005-06

                       

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves contracting with the Gloucester County Special Services School District to coordinate the Nonpublic Technology Initiative Aide Entitlement Program at a fee to equal 5% of the entitlement (chargeable to the grant) and $2.00 per pupil (not chargeable to the grant).

 

            4.   Resolution in Support of Assembly Bill No. 4181 and Senate Bill No. 2805

 

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves to adopt a resolution in support of Assembly Bill No. 4181 and Senate Bill No. 28056 in order to clarify the sales and use exemption of school food service providers in certain       purchases for school districts.  (Exhibit 06- 25)

 

            5.   Change Orders

 

                  a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the change         order for W. J. Gross, Inc. in the amount of $4,964. to furnish and install four magnetic holders and surface vertical rod exit devices. 

                  b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves a change order for Straga Brothers in the amount of $5,330. to furnish and install ten light boxes.    

 

6.   Transportation Routes 2005-06

 

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the following transportation route costs for the 2005-06 fiscal year.  This transportation is provided through cooperative services provided by the          Gloucester County Special Services School District as per the joint transportation agreement approved by the Board of Education in April, 2005.

7.   Contracts for Auxiliary Services Provided by Gloucester County Special Services School District

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves contracting with the Gloucester County Special Services School District  to provide services to students for the 2005-06 school year as follows:

 

      a)   Physical Therapy Services – 4 hours per week for 36 weeks @ $65.00 per hour, totaling $9,350.

      b)   Auxiliary Speech-Language Services – 3.5 days per week for 36 weeks $370.00 per diem, totaling $46,620.

E.          STUDENTS & PROGRAMS

 

              1.  School District Objectives – 2005-06

 

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the school district objectives for the 2005-06 school year. ( Exhibit 06-26 )

 

2.   Alternative School Placements

                       

                    RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves contracting with the Gloucester County Special Services School District for the placement of two students during the 2005-06 school year, at a tuition charge based upon the cost per pupil of $14,300.

 

3.   One-on-One Teacher Assistant for Out of District Placement

                       

                    RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves contracting with Gloucester County Special Services School District for a one-on-one teacher assistant for student # 0001659 for the 2005-06 school year at a rate of $140.00 per diem.

 

4.   Homebound Instruction

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves providing homebound instruction for the following students:

            THE EXECUTIVE SESSION RESOLUTION STATES AS FOLLOWS:

            RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 7.B. 1-9 [N.J.S.A. 10:4-12] of the New Jersey Open Public Meeting Act, the public shall be excluded from that portion of the meeting involving discussion of:  negotiations.

 

            FURTHER RESOLVED that the matters discussed which warrant official Board           action   will be acted upon, if possible, when the Board of Education reconvenes, or at the  next available opportunity.
