A.  ROUTINE MATTERS

 

1.   Approval of Minutes

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the Minutes of the Board of Education Meetings held on April 10, 2006 and April 25, 2006.

2.   Secretary’s Report

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the April 2006 Secretary’s Report.  (Exhibit 06-113) 

 

            3.   Treasurer’s Report

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the April 2006 Treasurer’s Report.  (Exhibit 06-114)

 

4.   Transfers

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the transfers in line accounts in accordance with the lists submitted.  (Exhibit 06-115)

5.   Payment of Bills

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the payment of bills without exception.  (Exhibit 06-116)

 

6.   Revenue Amounts/Sources

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education recognizes the Board Secretary’s certification, in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c2, that there are no changes in anticipated revenue amounts and revenue sources as detailed under the Business & Financial Section of this agenda.

 

7.   Certifications

a)   Secretary’s Report

Board Secretary’s Report in accordance with 18A:17-36 and18A:17-9 for the month of April, 2006. The Board Secretary certifies that no line item account has been over-expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c 3 and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year. 

b)   Board of Education Certification

            The Woodbury Board of Education hereby certifies, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c4, that after review of the secretary’s monthly financial report (appropriations section) and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials, that to the best of our knowledge no major accounts or fund has been over-expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

B.         PERSONNEL – PROFESSIONAL

 

1.   Appointments – 2006-07

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Michael Rogers, M.D. as the School Physician for the 2006-07 fiscal year at a salary of $8,840.

                  b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Thomas G. Campo as School Solicitor for the term for the 2006-07 fiscal year.  Compensation is to be based on an hourly rate of $185 plus a retainer of $1,000.  A Political Contribution Disclosure Form has been received.

 

2.   Resignations

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of resignation from John P. Henry, Technology Teacher, effective June 30, 2006.

      b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of resignation from Ashleigh Anastasi, Evergreen Avenue School, effective June 30, 2006.

 

3.   Employment

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of Vincent Myers as Principal, West End Memorial School, commencing July 3, 2006 at a salary of $90,000.

     

4.   Extra-Curricular – 2006-07

 

                  a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves  non-athletic extra-curricular appointments for the 2006-07 fiscal year. (Exhibit 06- 117)

 

                  b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves athletic extra-curricular appointments for the 2006-07 fiscal year. (Exhibit 06-117)

 

            5.   Additional Compensation

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves compensating Corey Harvey for 20 hours (15 hours of instruction and 5 hours of prep) at the Special Projects Rate to instruct seniors in the Health 12 make-up course conducted after school.

      b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves compensating Shin-Yin Estes for a total of 10 hours commencing May 15 through June 16, 2006, at the Special Projects Rate, to assist student # 064178, who has    recently enrolled from China, after school with mathematical directions and literacy instruction.

      c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves compensating   Carla Bittner and Diane Beirne for 2 hours each for the student/parent/teacher book club at Evergreen Avenue School.  They were approved for six hours each in October 2005, but exceeded that amount of time.  Compensation will be at the Special Projects Rate.

     

6.   Summer Employment – 2006-07

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of certificated staff for Summer 2006.  (Exhibit 06-118)

b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves Let’s Motor Inc. to conduct five (5) Summer 2006 Occupational Therapy Evaluations at a cost of $200 each.

c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves Let’s Motor Inc. to support Summer 2006 Eligibility Conferences and other Child Study Team responsibilities for five (5) hours at a cost of $28 per hour.

 

7.   Leaves of Absence

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves granting Sherryl Sprock, Special Education Teacher at West End School, a medical leave of absence under the federal Family Medical Leave Act for the period of May 1 to on or about June 6, 2006.

      b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves granting Karen Perry, Basic Skills Teacher at West End School, a medical leave of absence under the federal Family Medical Leave Act for the period of March 27 to on or about May 19, 2006.

     

9.   Substitutes – 2005-06

 

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of the following substitute in the Woodbury School District for the 2005-06 fiscal year:

            1.   Employment

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of support staff for the 2006-07 school year.  (Exhibit 06-119)

 

2.   Resignation

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the resignation of Elaine Blair, Kindergarten Aide at Evergreen Avenue School, effective June 22, 2006.

 

3.   Substitute Caller – 2006-07

 

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Ms. Tracey Parker as the District Substitute Caller for the 2006-07 school year at a yearly stipend of $5,200.

 

4.   Job Descriptions

 

                  a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby abolishes the job description for the Basic Skills Tutor, G-4

                  b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the revised job description for Instructional Assistant.  (Exhibit 06-120)

 

5.   Leaves of Absence

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves granting an uncompensated leave of absence under the federal Family Medical Leave Act to Kathleen Repas, Building Aide at Walnut Street School, for the period of April 27 to on or about June 23, 2006.

      b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves granting an uncompensated leave of absence to Ashley Worrell, Building Aide at Evergreen Avenue School, for April 28, 2006.

      c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves granting an uncompensated leave of absence to Candice Budesa, Tutor at Woodbury Jr.-Sr.      High School, for May 17 – 31, 2006.

      d)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves granting an uncompensated leave of absence to James Futia, Computer Technician, an for May 23 – 26, 2006.

      e)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves granting an uncompensated leave of absence under the federal Family Medical Leave Act to John Hawn, Custodian, for the period of April 19 – 28, 2006.

 

6.   Additional Compensation

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves compensating Eleanor Smith as a substitute Building Aide at Walnut Street School, for up to five hours per week at the rate of $7.50 per hour, commencing May 10, 2006 to on or about June 22, 2006.

      b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves compensating Doreen Ranck to supervise/monitor children on the Walnut School playground for ½ hour daily at the rate of $7.50 per hour, commencing May 24, 2006 to on or about June 22, 2006.

 

7.   Summer Employment – 2006-07

 

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves employing support personnel during Summer 2006 as follows.  Each summer day will equal eight hours.  (Exhibit 06-121)

 

8.   Salary Guides  for Aides – 2006-07

 

            RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the Salary Guides for Aides for 2006-07. (Exhibit 06-122)

1.   Multiply Disabled Program

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves implementing a Multiply Disabled Program at Woodbury Jr.-Sr. High School for the 2006-07 school year which would allow the district to service Multiply Disabled students currently in out-of-district placements.

 

2.   Homebound Instruction

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves providing homebound instruction for the following students:

3.   Summer Programs

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves Summer 2006 Programs.  (Exhibit 06-123)

           

 

4.   June 2007 Trip to France

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves a Woodbury High School student trip to France from June 28 – July 6, 2007 at a cost of $2,882 per student.  Mrs. Linda Webb and Ms. Cheryl Federline will be the chaperones.

E.         BUSINESS & FINANCIAL

 

            1.  E-rate Exchange, LLC Contract

 

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves  contract renewal with E-rate Exchange, LLC to provide consulting services relating to the Schools and Libraries Division E-rate application process as follows:

                                    Funding Year 2007:      $3,100

                                    Funding Year 2008:      $3,100

 

            2.   Policies

 

                  a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the first  reading of revised/newpolicies. (Exhibit 06-124)

                  b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves making citation revisions to policies resulting from the New Jersey Department of Education recodification of the New Jersey Administrative Code. (Exhibit 06-125)    

                  c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves abolishing Policy 9322 – Drug Free School Zones.

                   

            3.  West End Memorial School PTA Donation

 

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts a donation from the West End Memorial School PTA of new stage curtains valued at $3,500.

 

            4.  Change Order – Batten Excavation

 

     RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves a change order in the amount of $1,500 for additional demolition of concrete in the courtyard at the High School.

 

5.  Change Orders – Straga Brothers

 

     a)     RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves rescinding the change order for Straga Brothers in the amount of $5,330, approved on October 25, 2005, which was to furnish and install ten light boxes.

 

     b)    RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves a credit change order for Straga Brothers in the amount of $3,000 for the general allowance credit which was not used.

 

6.  Archaeological Investigation Contract

 

     RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves a contract with URS in the amount of $8,917.44 for a Phase IB archaeological investigation for the area between the High School stadium and the Woodbury Creek.

 

 

7.  Soil Testing Contract

 

     RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves increasing the total fee of the contract with Adams, Rehman and Hegger by $5,065.50 for expedited soil testing in the football stadium area plus $1,500 for a survey/stakeout of the proposed utility lines.

 

8.  Procurement of Wireless Carts

 

     RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves a resolution to procure wireless carts for the elementary schools.  (Exhibit 06-126)

    

            9.  Contract – Let’s Motor, Inc.

 

                 RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves contracting with Michele M. Gaglianese-Hernandez of Let’s Motor, Inc. as an occupational therapist for the 2006-07 school year, at the rate of $57 per hour, not to exceed $42,000.  A Political Contribution Disclosure Form has been received.

 

10.  Travel and Work Related Expenses for Employees

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the resolution for reimbursement of travel and work related expenses for employees attending conferences, conventions, staff training, seminars and/or workshops as previously approved by the Chief School Administrator as work related and within the scope of the work responsibilities of each attendee.  (Exhibit 06-127)
