A.  ROUTINE MATTERS

 

1.   Approval of Minutes

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the Minutes of the Board of Education Meeting held on October 25, 2005.

2.   Secretary’s Report

                  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the October 2005 Secretary’s Report.  (Exhibit 06-27)

 

3.   Transfers

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the transfers in line accounts in accordance with the lists submitted.  (Exhibit 06-28)

4.   Payment of Bills

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the payment of bills without exception.  (Exhibit 06-29)

 

5.   Revenue Amounts/Sources

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education recognizes the Board Secretary’s certification, in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c2, that there are changes in anticipated revenue amounts and revenue sources and detailed under the Business & Financial Section of this agenda.

 

6.   Certifications

a)   Secretary’s Report

Board Secretary’s Report in accordance with 18A:17-36 and18A:17-9 for the month of October, 2005. The Board Secretary certifies that no line item account has been over-expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c 3 and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year. 

b)   Board of Education Certification

            The Woodbury Board of Education hereby certifies, pursuant to N.J.A.C.                                 6A:23-            2.11c4, that after review of the secretary’s monthly financial report   (appropriations section) and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials, that to the best of our knowledge no major accounts or fund has been over-expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23-2.11c and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.

1.   Resignation

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the resignation of Mrs. Kathleen M. Stark, Science Teacher at Woodbury Jr.-Sr. High School, effective December 31, 2005.

3.   Leave of Absence

 

                  a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves a revision of the leave of absence dates for Mrs. Rebecca Beall to October 31, 2005June 30, 2006.

                  b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves an extension of the leave of absence date for Mrs. Anne Baney-Giampoala to January 3, 2006.        

 

4.   Employment

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of Miss Marcella Linkert as Interim Teacher of Grade 2 at West End Memorial School, effective December 5, 2005 through June 30, 2006.  Miss Linkert will be compensated at the rate of $125.00 per day.

      b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of Mrs. Jill Rossi as Teacher of Business Education at Woodbury Jr.-Sr. High School, effective January 30, 2006.  Mrs. Rossi will be placed on Step B-1 on the 2005-06 teachers’ salary guide.

      c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of                                             as Speech-Language Pathologist, effective                                         .                               will be placed on Step             ,            FTE,  on the 2005-06 teachers’ salary guide.

 

      d)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves extending the employment of Mrs. Audrey Barbera as Interim Teacher of English until December 23, 2005, at the same rate of compensation.

 

            5.  Appointment of Alternative School Staff

 

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Mr. Philip Donohue as Alternative School Teacher of Social Studies for the 2005-2006 fiscal year, not to exceed 9 hours per week, commencing October 24, 2005.  Compensation will be at the Special Projects Rate.

 

            6.  Seventh Academic Class – Extension of Time

 

RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves extending the time for Donna Lacovara’s temporary assignment to a seventh academic class, AP English 12, from sixty days to seventy days.  The revised stipend amount is $2,268.

 

7.   Extra-Curricular – 2005-06

 

a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the following extra-curricular athletic appointments for the 2005-06 fiscal year:

                  c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the creation of an extra-curricular position entitled, AVID District Director, with a stipend equal to that of a department chairperson position.

 

                  d)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the job description, AVID District Director – D-17, as per the attached.  (Exhibit 06-30)

 

                  e)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Mrs. Donna Cohen as AVID District Director for the 2005-06 school year.

                       

 

     

8.   Substitutes – 2005-06

C.        PERSONNEL - SUPPORT

                       

1.   Resignations

 

a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of  resignation from Miss Lauren DiTonno, Special Education Aide at Evergreen Avenue School, effective November 11, 2005. 

b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the letter of resignation from Ms. Mercedes Shicay, full-time custodian, effective November15, 2005.

 

2.   Employment

 

a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of Mrs. Margaret L. Walsh as PK-12 Curriculum & Instruction Secretary, full/time, 12 months, effective November 7, 2005.  Mrs. Walsh’s salary will be in accordance with Step 4 on the Secretaries/Clerks 2005-06 Salary Guide for 12 month employees.

b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of Mrs. Jessica Turkot as Instructional Assistant at Woodbury Jr.-Sr. High School, effective November 2, 2005.  Mrs. Turkot will be employed for 29 hours per week, with compensation at the rate of $16.00 per hour, 183 day school year.

c)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves  the employment of Mr. Albert Kilpatrick as an Interim Instructional Assistant at Woodbury Jr.-Sr. High School, effective November 14, 2005 through February 3, 2006.  Mr. Kilpatrick will be employed for 29 hours per week, with compensation at the rate of $16.00 per hour.

d)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the employment of Ms. Annette Clifford as a part-time Clerk at West End Memorial School, 29 hours per week, 187 day school year, effective December 1, 2005. Ms. Clifford will be placed on Step 1, .78 FTE, of the 10 month Secretaries/Clerks 2005-06 Salary Guide.

 

                       

 

3.   Leave of Absence

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves an unpaid leave of absence for Fred Hay, Driver, from November 1, 2005January 2, 2006.

 

4.   Back-up Substitute Caller – 2005-06

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the appointment of Mrs. Gina Downey as the back-up substitute caller as needed and as available for $25.00 per day for the 2005-06 school year.

1.   2004-05 Audit

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby accepts the audit   presented by Michael Holt of Holman & Frenia, P.C. for the 2004-05 school year. A synopsis was distributed.  (Exhibit 06-31)

 

      b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the 2004-05 Audit Corrective Action Plan.  (Exhibit 06-32)

     

2.   Character Education Funds

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves accepting Character Education funds totaling $4,000 for the 2005-06 fiscal year.

 

3.   Early Childhood Operational Plan – 2006-07

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves submitting the Early Childhood Operational Plan for the 2006-07 fiscal year.

 

4.   Alliance for Competitive Telecommunications Agreement

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the adoption of an agreement to participate in the Alliance for Competitive Telecommunications with Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission and the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials (NJASBO).  (Exhibit 06-33)

                       

5.   Carry-Over of IDEA Funds - 2004-05  

 

      RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves filing an application to carry-over $20,023 from the IDEA 2004-05 grant.

2.   Out-of-District Placement

 

      a)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the continuation of the out-of-district placement for a recent transfer student at  Bancroft Pediatric, student #1948, effective October 6, 2005, at a cost of   $15,504 (pro-rated).

 

      b)   RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves placing students #0558, #0169, #0075, #1916, #0232 in the School-to-Work Program at   the Abilities Center during the 2005-06 school year.  The number of hours for each student shall not exceed 65 at an hourly rate of $44 until 12/31/05 and $51 per hour thereafter.

 

                  3.   One-on-One Bus Aide

                       

                    RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves providing a  one-to-one bus aide to and from school for student #0001544 who attends the Archway Program – Washington Township, at a rate of $42 per day.                    

           

            4.     High School Trips

 

                    a)  RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the French Club’s request to travel to Quebec, Canada, from June 19, 2006 through June 23,    2006.  The trip will be handled through Jumpstreet Tours and a proposed itinerary is attached.  (Exhibit 06-38)

                    b) RESOLVED that the Woodbury Board of Education hereby approves the Choir Trip to Germany, Switzerland and Austria, March 13-21, 2006 and the following chaperones:  Dr. A. Edward Maddison, Mrs.  Theresa Savage, Miss Sharron Knauss, Mr. Robert Moyer.
