Membership in the National Honor Society is both an honor and a responsibility. Students selected for membership are expected to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Selection to NHS is a privilege, not a right. Students do not apply for membership in the National Honor Society; instead, they provide information to be used by the local chapter to support their candidacy for membership. Invitations to begin the process for entrance into the Woodbury Chapter of the National Honor Society are sent after the second quarter of the junior year.

Scholarship

A minimum scholastic requirement of 85 is required for all students who have been enrolled in Woodbury High School for their entire high school career. A student who has not been continuously enrolled may petition for eligibility.

Leadership, Character, and Service

Each applicant will submit a minimum of 12 school and community activities for which no class credit or pay is given. Activities should support the concept of leadership and/or service to the school and community.

Each applicant will also request references from seven individuals who are not related to him or her.

All materials, upon return to the advisors, will be coded to maintain the anonymity of the candidate as the application is processed.
