Woodbury Junior/Senior High School Library

We expect all students in Woodbury Junior/Senior High School to realize the infinite value of books and all electronic materials and to treat them respectively.

The Library Media Center is a place where individuals can independently pursue their interests, studies, or assignments. If consist of a main room audio visual equipment and materials room, workroom, magazine room conference and professional library room.

Every student enrolled in Woodbury Junior/Senior is automatically a member or SLMC.

All students, staff and administrators upon entering the Woodbury Junior/Senior High School will be assigned a library barcode. This barcode will be their identifier, in the library, for as long as they are still in school.

Rules

  1. Put books back in their proper place.
  2. Use electronic equipment properly & for their educational purpose it is intended for.
  3. Return magazines promptly at the end of each period.
  4. Return chairs to the proper tables and push them in.
  5. Use trash cans around the room.

Sign-out Procedures

  • Students will sign their full name and homeroom on the book card found in the pocket in the back of the book.
  • Students will tell the person at the circulation desk their name and homeroom. The barcode on the book and the student barcode will be scanned. A slip receipt will be inserted in the book pocket.
  • Reserves are held for 24 hours.
  • A student may not charge out a book or material for another Student. The student who charges material is held responsible for its return or loss. Charging out or loaning a book to a friend is discouraged for this reason.
  • THE STUDENT WHO CHARGES OUT A BOOK OR ANY MATERIAL IS THE ONE HELD REPONSIBLE FOR ITS RETURN.

Financial Responsibilities

Book Fines

  1. $ .02 per school day will be charged for overdue material.
  2. $ .25 per school day for overdue reserve books and materials.
  3. $ .05 per school day for overdue three day books.

If a book or other material is lost, the loser will report the loss to the library media specialist. This will be noted on the book and dated. If the book has not been located by the end of the marking period, the patron will be informed of the cost and must make arrangements for its payment. All overdue books and fines must be taken care of at the end of the marking period before report cards are issued.

If, after a book has been paid for, the original lost book is found, the librarian will reimburse the student. NO refunds will be given after the close of the school year.

Xeroxing

  1. Students requiting materials to be xeroxed my request it from one of the staff. The cost is $0.15 per copy sheet.
  2. The first 10 pages printed from the internet will be free. 11 or more copies will cost $0.15 per page.

Internet Access

  1. There is Technology and Internet Access available for every student in our school. Students and their parents must have signed and returned the Student Acceptable Use Policy contract to the District Technology office (located in N-Hall on the floor in the high school). Students will receive a laminated Acceptable Use Card with their name typed on it. Students must carry these cards with them at all times.
  2. When Students come to the Library Media Center to do any type of research they should come prepared, this includes having their Acceptable research card with them. They will show their card to their teacher or the Library Media Specialist or the Library Clerk and will be assigned to a computer/ Students will sign in (folder next to each computer with date, full name time on and time off).
  3. 3. Students must sign in and out on the computer log sheets, found in a folder, next to each computer.
  4. 4. There will be strict enforcement of the Acceptable Use in the School Library Media Center.

    • Either a synopsis of the article and/ or a full text copy will be available in

General Reference database containing thousands of full-text articles containing social, scientific, health, historic, business, economic, political and global issues. Articles and graphics are selected from 1,500 domestic and international publications according to strict criteria with regard to content and age appropriateness. Users can find information by subject headings, topics browse and keyword searches. A full explanation of how to go thru site is provided.
