How generous! In honor of a Walnut Street School first grader, students, parents, staff, and community members donated $1077 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)! On Friday, a walk-a-thon was held; students received sugar-free popsicles from the HSA, and participated in some fun, outdoor activities such as jump rope, tug-a-war, and using the parachute. Back inside, students heard from guest speaker West End Principal Vince Myers, who has type I diabetes. They also decorated large paper sneakers, the symbol for JDRF. Great job to all!
